What labor law posters are required for South Carolina in 2025?
South Carolina calls for employers of all sizes to display both federal and state notices. Key posters cover topics such as workers' compensation, health & safety, and pregnancy accommodation. Some industries (for example food service or construction) may need additional postings under specific regulations.
Learn more -
How can employers obtain the mandatory labor law posters for South Carolina?
The workforce agency makes posters available at no cost online. The official site posts printable PDFs, and many companies choose to buy consolidated wall charts from private vendors to ensure they don't miss any requirements.
-
Where should South Carolina labor law posters be displayed, and are electronic postings permitted?
Posters need to be displayed prominently in employee common areas. Posting electronically is permitted only when all employees have easy access; physical displays are still essential. Remote employees should still be notified of their rights, typically via email or an intranet page.
-
Are South Carolina labor law posters available in multiple languages or accessible formats?
Translations are available; you should display notices in the languages your employees understand. The South Carolina labor agency generally advises that notices should be provided in the language(s) understood by your staff.
-
What are the penalties for failing to display required labor law posters in South Carolina, and how often should they be updated?
Not posting required notices may expose employers to fines and civil penalties. Ensure your poster set is up to date; update them as new laws or wage increases take effect to remain compliant with changing wage rates, discrimination laws and other statutory updates.
-
What information must be included in South Carolina's Labor Law Abstract, and what penalties apply for noncompliance?
South Carolina's Labor Law Abstract combines several notices. Under the Payment of Wages Act, employers must provide new hires with written notice of their wages, normal hours, payday and permitted deductions, and must pay all wages due each pay period. Employers must also provide an itemized statement of gross pay and deductions, maintain wage records for three years and give seven days' written notice before changing pay terms. Violations of the Payment of Wages Act can result in a civil penalty of $100 per violation and employees may recover up to three times the unpaid wages. The abstract also reiterates child-labor restrictions and South Carolina's right-to-work law prohibiting discrimination based on union membership.
